NOVEMBER KEY POINTS
TREND ESTIMATES
- Trend estimates for short-term visitor arrivals to Australia during November 2007 (471,500 movements) changed little compared with October 2007 (470,900 movements).
- Currently, short-term visitor arrivals are 0.4% higher than when the series last troughed in August 2007 and 0.5% higher than in November 2006.
- During November 2007, short-term resident departures (469,600 movements) increased by 0.5% compared with October 2007 (467,100 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% each for September 2007 and October 2007.
- Short-term resident departures have continued to increase since the December 2006 trend series break - see Explanatory Notes, paragraph 23. However, the rate of growth has slowed in recent months.
SEASONALLY ADJUSTED ESTIMATES
- Seasonally adjusted estimates for short-term visitor arrivals during November 2007 (475,900 movements) increased by 2.6% compared with October 2007. This followed a monthly increase of 0.6% for September 2007 and a monthly decrease of 2.7% for October 2007.
- Short-term resident departures for November 2007 (468,100 movements) decreased 1.0% compared with October 2007 (472,700 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 1.2% for September 2007 and a monthly increase 2.6% for October 2007.
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original movement terms, there were 498,800 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia and 429,900 short-term resident departures from Australia during November 2007.
